Whew. So many titles! The only one that really matters? Daughter of God.
I'm Nicole, and basically what all those titles mean is that I love living out my spiritual motherhood by mothering mothers! God has blessed me so much that I get to do that in a myriad of ways from pregnancy through postpartum and beyond.
In my physical motherhood, I'm a wife and "Mama" to two incredible toddler boys. While I love being a mom, their births were...rough. (You can read more about them below.) After the experiences I had, I became determined to make sure no other Catholic mamas had to go through what I did.
When I'm not trying to keep my boys from falling off of something or putting on my doula ID to go attend a birth, you can find me attending a Catholic young adult event or our TLM parish, enjoying all of the local Hudson Valley attractions with my family, or blasting rock and metal music.
I can't wait to be mom friends with you!
My oldest was born in November of 2020 (yep, during the worst of the pandemic), which made my first pregnancy rather isolating.
I did have a wonderful doula at my first birth, but after getting induced, labor stalled for 40 hours. Due to "failure to progress", my doctor elected for me to have a c-section. It was uncomplicated, but not how I had envisioned welcoming my first child.
Fast forward seven months and oh hey! Another positive pregnancy test. (In case you're trying to do the math, my kids are 16 months apart.) I was determined to try for a VBAC, and even though my doula had moved, I educated myself and put myself in the best position to have a VBAC.
Unfortunately, my wishes were not accommodated, and I had a second c-section in 2022. My experience giving birth was marred by not feeling like I had a say in the birth of my own child, and it was a time of deep spiritual abandonment (not to mention disillusionment with the medical system...).
My experiences have made me that much more DETERMINED to assist Catholic and Christian moms have a birth that aligns with their faith and their wishes. I'm not here to push you into a certain type of birth or postpartum care - I simply want to make sure your voice gets heard, that you feel safe, and that your pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood help to make you holier.
(AKA, why you can trust me to assist you)
